Andy has had a lot of experience with libraries over the past few years. He served on the Fort St John Library Board originally for 8 years and then stepped aside for a few years. During that time, he also served as Chair of the Board for 5 years as well as Founding Chair of the NE Library Federation and as Vice President and then President of BCLTA. Andy was awarded the CLTA Merit Award for Distinguished Service as a Public Library Trustee in 2011.
Andy has a great deal of experience as a trainer for libraries as a TOP instructor for many years. He is one of the original TOP instructors and has put on many courses throughout the province over the years. He has also contributed to developing many BCLTA policies such as TOP training guidelines and tools.
To add to his training experience, he is also an instructor for the Justice Institute of BC in Emergency Management and an instructor of Holistic Emergency Preparedness & Response that has a focus on instruction in Indigenous communities on Emergency Management.
He enjoys teaching and interacting with participants and other instructors.
