Federal Election 2019

As a member of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA – FCAB) the BCLTA is pleased to share with you the CFLA – FCAB campaign Vote Libraries. The campaign includes background information, a campaign kit to support successful meetings with your local candidates, and a letter template for informing your local candidates about the importance of libraries.

The CFLA national priorities for libraries across Canada are:

  • Copyright
  • Social infrastructure
  • Indigenous languages
  • Accessible formats for eliminating barriers

From CFLA – FCAB
We are inviting all members of Canada’s library community to meet with their local candidates in advance of the federal election. These discussions will provide an opportunity to discuss how libraries can be supported by the federal government on an ongoing basis. We need your help to put library issues at the top of the federal agenda!

To find out more about the campaign and to access the toolkit and letter template visit Vote Libraries.

BC Stories

In addition to the CFLA – FCAB materials you may also want to use these two attention grabbing BC made videos to support your discussions with federal candidates.

From the BC Library Association
To commemorate Canadian Library Month BCLA presents “A Celebration of BC Libraries” – a slide-show demonstrating the multiplicity of our libraries, our unique locations, and our connections to our communities. Libraries from across the province contributed photographs prior to the May Library Conference and many of you saw “A Celebration of Libraries” at the conference. Today the slide-show is available for libraries to use and enjoy!

A Celebration of BC Libraries

From the BC Public Library Partners
In this video we tell the story of BC’s public libraries. We are more than just a place with books – we are the cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant community. We are a place for connecting, a place for voices to be heard, and a place to learn new skills and participate in new experiences. We are a place where everyone can belong. Our communities count on us.
