  • Library Governance Series: Developing Policies
    Tuesday, October 8, 7:00-8:30pm

    The workshop will explore the role of policies in organizational governance, distinguishing between prescriptive and proscriptive policies. It will cover various types of policies, including governance, financial, and HR policies, and discuss the use of policy trackers. Additionally, participants will learn about planning for policy renewal or development.

    By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to differentiate between types of governance policies, understand the purpose and impact of policies on organizational governance, use a policy tracking tool to inventory existing board, financial, and HR policies, and create a workplan for identifying and developing new policies.

  • October Trustee Circle: Discussion Starters on Policy-Making

    Join fellow trustees in this collaborative session to spark meaningful conversations about library policy-making. We’ll explore aspects of developing, reviewing, and implementing policies that reflect your library’s mission and community needs.     Increase your knowledge regarding financial responsibilities and best practices. Trustees, library directors and senior staff will all benefit from the information provided in this seminar.     To maintain a committed team of qualified directors is one of the board’s biggest challenges. In this  workshop, you will learn to move beyond recruiting the average applicant by creating a strategic framework to identify, recruit, engage, and develop the talents of current and future board members.
