The BCLTA has engaged Melanie Reaveley and Kaitlyn Vecchio to design and deliver a process that is highly consultative with trustees, library directors, and partners and a package that will include, but is not limited to background information, check-lists, and policy templates. This package will be made available through the BCLTA website for all to use.
How This Project Will Be Valuable to Governance Teams
This project will support boards and library directors in sharing knowledge, developing policy and guidelines, and strengthening role clarity. In this way boards and library directors will be confident in how to work together to support the library and community during an emergency, to minimize service disruption, and to best protect the safety of staff and patrons.
What Will be Included in the Package?
- Emergency Preparedness and Recovery backgrounder document
- Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Board Policy template
- Emergency Preparedness Plan template
Throughout the month of May all trustees and library directors are invited to fill out a survey about their emergency and recovery needs.
The goal of the focus groups is to have discussions with trustees and library directors about their governance emergency preparedness and recovery needs. These discussions will augment and be informed by the survey responses.
The trustee focus groups will take place on:
- May 25th 6:30pm to 7:30pm
- May 26th 1:30pm to 2:30pm
The dates and time for the library directors focus groups will soon be set.
The webinars will provide an overview of the key points in all the emergency preparedness and recovery package.
Webinars will take place on:
- November 16th 6:30pm to 7:30pm
- November 17th 1:30pm to 2:30pm
